Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada, but was raised in the United States. She has worked as an editor since the year 1995. Feminist Frequency is a site which hosts video and commentary looking at the portrayals of female characters in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, critic of the media and a prestigious feminist for more than 10 years. She is the creator and director-general of Feminist Frequency which is an education non-profit website which explores representations of women in pop stories of culture. She's determined to dismantle stereotypes about women and how they are portrayed in popular culture. In addition she aims to create awareness about online harassment targeted towards women as well as marginalized groups of people. Sarkeesian, who has a Master's in Political and Social Thinking from York University, is a sought after public speaking.
