Julia Ormond

JuliaOrmond was born in Epsom (Surrey) as the daughter of Josephine Ormond, an engineer and John Ormond. Ormond is the fifth of five children born to her parents. She went to private schools, initially Guildford High School and then Cranleigh School, where early performance in Guys and Dolls and My Fair Lady began to draw attention. After a year in arts school, she transferred to Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated in 1988. Ormond made her first appearance on British TV's 1989 show Traffik. It focused on illicit heroin trade between the Far East as well as the streets of Europe. Ormond was the heroin-addicted daughter of the main character, an official from the Home Office minister who was involved in fighting heroin importation. The role was her debut and received a fawning review.
